About Me

Galina Chakarova is a London-based film and television editor. She attended  The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she wrote and directed several short films. Her very first film won a national contest and screened at the BFI London Film Festival as the opening piece for Justin Chadwick's film The First Grader.

Galina’s passion for editing evolved as she discovered the joy of shaping performances and setting the tone of a narrative. She thrives on collaborating on bold, thought-provoking projects, bringing her expertise in structure, pacing, and storytelling to the table. With a keen eye for performance and a deep understanding of character development, Galina excels at crafting compelling character arcs.

Galina’s editing work includes award-winning films that have been showcased at festivals such as Sundance, Clermont-Ferrand, BFI London Film Festival, Aesthetica, Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, and more. She has gained extensive experience in high-end television editing for drama series such as Rain Dogs (HBO, BBC), Ragdoll (AMC), Extraordinary S02 (Disney+), and Grime Kids (BBC3, premiering at BFI London Film Festival 2023). Galina recently finished editing four episodes of Queenie (Channel 4, Disney+), based on the bestselling novel by Candice Carty-Williams.

Galina is part of BAFTA Connect and she is an associate member of the British Film Editors Guild (BFE).
